Birthday cake for a one year old twin
This is getting more and more exciting. My colleague has a twin, a boy and a girl. How lucky! (or maybe not, depends how you look at it) :) So he asked me to make a birthday cake for his twin's 1 year old birthday. I wanted to say no, just because I was so occupied that week, with my Tax (yes, your heard me right, Tax) assignment due, quiz for my other CGA course and not to mention other errands for my demanding brother (don't be mad if you read my blog, my dear brother). At the end I accepted the job to make a cake and 24 cupcakes for him. I wanted pink and blue (typical color for girl and boy), but they wanted to have it colorful since that's the decoration is all colorful. So, I still made pink and blue on this cake with colorful cupcakes. The cake itself is chocolate cake with my favourite creme cheese icing. I just had his comments last week, that everybody loved the cakes. This is what you're looking forward to hear after squeezing so many activities that week, self rewarding :)
Toopy and Binoo Cake
I made this cake for my neighbour's son' birthday. To get some ideas for my decorating, I asked his mom what his favourite cartoon is and she told me Toopy and Binoo. I'm like, what is that? So I google it to see some images. Apparently, I watched less cartoon when I was kid, or maybe this is quite recent, or just not in my culture, which explain, I didn't grew up here : P
FYI if you are also curious what this is - Toopy and Binoo is a Canadian children's television series created by Treehouse TV, Classic Media, and Spectra Animation. The original characters were created by French Canadian author Dominique Jolin. There you go .....quite cute, I must say. Maybe when I have children, I will know more cartoon series :) I only know the classics Disney, Mickey Mouse is always my favourite.
Pocoyo Cake
Finally a cake for a boy. Most of the cakes that I made so far have been for girl's bday. I think it's something to do with girls overtaking the world's population lol. Here's the Pocoyo cake that I made for the first bday boy on my list so far :)
A little of info of what Pocoyo is. Pocoyo is a Spanish pre-school animated television series. Set in a 3D space, with a plain white background and usually no backdrops, it is about a young boy dressed in blue, who is full of curiosity (from wiki). Now you know why cake is simple with white background :)
Peter Pan Cake
My best friend since university has a cute baby girl, Anna. It's her 4th birthday. As usual, I'm super thrilled to make a bday cake for her. So I offered. This is a different version of Peter Pan, but it's great experience to make one. I modified it a bit with the mushroom house and I wanted to experiment something from one of the decorating books that I recently found. Ta da....The crowds was amazed at the cake and thought I have an artistic side, something that I learnt somewhere for sure. Taste is great! This is my favourite cake, chocolate with coffee.
Monkey Cake
What's up with monkeys? People just love monkey :)
Another friend of mine who likes monkey so much, so I decided to make this cake for our gathering. She recently becomes a good friend of mine, so why not try doing something nice for a good friend :)
She invited some of her friends over, since 4 of us can't really finish this big cake. The crowds loved my cake, one of her friends ate few pieces :)
